That’s pretty much the ballpark of what we’ve suggested the client to do. And this just hit the spot. What we ended up with was a slick and amazingly scalable B2B eCommerce platform processing hundreds of thousands of searches, plus a frozen TCO.

PROJECT BACKGROUND

The client’s multilayer business infrastructure resided on Oracle Commerce Cloud. Since the provider has announced sunsetting the service, migration was needed ASAP, and BigCommerce was chosen as a reliable alternative.

In a nutshell, the client needed a vanilla B2B eCommerce website delivered in as little as 5 months. The solution was supposed to be future-proof while supporting major B2B functionalities like company registration, requisition, and more.

They also required a BigCommerce to NetSuite integration and a custom shipping integration with Shiphawk Shipping API.

CHALLENGE

Data storage restrictions

As we were integrating ShipHawk software to BigCommerce, we’ve faced data restrictions imposed on custom shipping providers. Namely, the client’s ERP needed more data than BigCommerce could possibly accept.

Since BigCommerce couldn’t provide neither adequate storage capacities, nor APIs to receive the data, we’ve implemented AWS serverless services to delegate this job:

Lambda collects and sorts the data by order number
